As we grow up we are told that the glass is always half full. No matter what, it is to be perceived as half full. I have a discrepancy with this because it is also…half empty. I mean that isn’t so hard to understand is it? This all came to me as I was paying a Hendersonville towing company $85 to have my vehicle moved from the side of the interstate to an auto shop.
At times of desperation you are tested and in this moment I had a realization that its okay if the glass is also half empty. There is nothing wrong with this perception. On the contrary it is more realistic to see reality how it is. I am not saying that optimistic hope that the glass is half full is delusional. However, the fact that life at times can seem half empty is perfectly reasonable.
Who lives in a world where the glass is always half full? How much in life is that person missing? Listen, the point I am making here is – If you want to experience the fullness of life, for example the entire glass not just half of it, then this requires you to see that it is not only half empty, but also half full!
I love this realization because it finally relieves myself of the urgency to always be blindly optimistic, at times, straining myself to see this way. I felt like a zen master getting my car towed the other day after this epiphany.
Finally I have have saved up enough money to renovate my house! I’ve been working with a plumbing company out of Brentwood to install a single vanity in my bathroom area. The company’s website is www.brentwoodstarplumbing.com and they have been so good to work with over the past few weeks. Below is a picture of the vanity install.
I wish I had access to a before picture as well, for comparison. The difference now than before is pretty mind blowing really. Nick at Brentwood Star Plumbing did a fantastic job. I plan on redoing much more of my house throughout the year. Knock down some walls, really open up the space where I can actually BREATHE and feel comfortable in my house. I hate the feeling of coming home and not feeling like you’re actually at “home”. Instead it’s just this depressing space the you have to sleep in.
This is a major issue and it can’t wait until spring to start the cleaning process. Already with a little home improvement, my house has gone under a full transformation. When I decided to actually go through with my bathroom remodel, the first step in the process was to clear out all the the junk that was harboring space. Literally just feeling space, and believe it or not, the filled space was somehow having an affect on me. Whether this was completely imagined or not, it totally affected the “feeling” within myself in its presence. Yes this may sound a little “out there” but if you were me, you’d be so happy to not feel bogged down anymore by all the stuff occupying open space. It turns free space into dead space.
Now it is free, and it feel s fantastic. Like I said before, I can’t wait to open up some more space in my house by knocking down a few walls 🙂 Life is goooooood. Hope you all enjoyed! I’ll post photos of the next home update.
Yes new beginnings, fresh air, cold air, holiday spirit! I am so ready to get the new year kicked off. My recent post quoted a dear friend of mine about goals and aspirations. I would like to follow up and expound on my newly found dreams. When I think about the possibilities in todays world, my heart becomes filled with joy for the new year around the corner. We are all so very capable of turning our dreams into reality, manifesting the life in which we envision. I did a quick search online to see what the most common new years resolutions were and google brought up the following:
- Stay fit and healthy
- Lose weight
- Enjoy life to the fullest
- Spend less, save more
- spend more time with family and friends
This list is not surprising of course but it is does highlight what people want most in their life: Health, Money (freedom), and Family. These are really the three main issues that plague people’s personal freedom. If one of these three components are out of whack, it affects the other two, throwing them off balance as well.
This year I feel like I have seen it all. The ups and the downs. When I reminisce on the past 12 months, one of the major indicators to my stressful year was the imbalance of the three primary components mentioned above.
In 2017 I will not only focus on one the most popular new years resolutions but all of them. Is this too much? Am I overextending myself? My theory is if I do not focus on all three areas in my life, then I will spinning my wheels the entire time. Do I have a game plan. Not really. My first step is the awareness of my intentions. However, stay tuned for an update 🙂
“The end of the year is fast approaching, heralded by sparkly Christmas decorations, lights and murmurs of New Years resolutions.
If you are anything like me, you are no stranger to resolutions that have been forgotten or left by the wayside. I ask myself why we set these annual goals at the cusp of each year? How can we take these goals seriously and actually accomplish them?
It seems to be characteristic of New Years resolutions to take the form of what I like to call dream goals. The far-reaching ideal of what we would like to see ourselves accomplish. We set our sights high and yet we leave the small goals in the dust. It is these small goals that will take us to the moon. It is these small goals that so often get pushed aside that are the essential stepping stones to reach those dreams.”
This was beautifully written by the one and only Lisa 🙂 She has been inspiring me to fulfill my dreams with hard work and actionable efforts. This blog will be used to write down my goals and how to better fulfill the aspirations I have for 2017.
More to come soon.
